Hall of Fame Fighter Pernell”Sweetpea” Whitaker died Sunday after being Attacked by a Car at Virginia Beach, Virginia.
The Virginia Beach Police Department said in an information release a person was struck by an automobile around 10 p.m. ET on Sunday in a intersection west of downtown Virginia Beach and declared dead at the scene.
The driver of this vehicle stayed on the scene after the collision, according to authorities, and the situation will be investigated by the section Deadly Accident Crash Team.
“The analysis remains ongoing,” police spokesperson Linda Kuehn told USA TODAY Sports within a contact. “But it doesn’t appear that drugs/alcohol or rate were factors in the wreck ”
